New Digs

House-hunting in Detroit was horrible and took 4 days. But here it is, our newly leased place to live during residency:

3 bd/2ba condo in Grosse Pointe Park

It's got a patio, laundry room, and huge living room as well. I'm digging the generous amount of cabinetage in the kitchen. And since it's located in a Grosse Pointe community, we get a coveted park pass (access to all the awesome parks that are for Grosse Pointe residents only). Looking forward to walking the future puppy at these parks.

Home again

Finally back to reality. It's good to be home. List of things to do is about 8 miles long.

More pictures from Big Sky

Another tree casualty. Surprisingly, the board is fine:

Misty morning view from the cabin:

Stupid rabbit outside our bedroom window:

Bighorn sheep. Can't figure out how to fix the sideways thing. Will work on it later.

Big Sky Goodbye

Last day at the clinic! Headed home to be with the boy tomorrow morning. Love Big Sky but can't wait to be home again.

Here are some photos of a hike we took yesterday to Ousel Falls:

and my favorite picture of from inside the ice cave:

Here are the actual falls:

And here is a view from the top of the falls. You can see Sully at the top of the cliffs, in the trees of the second picture:

Big Sky Day 21

Slush! That is all.
Also, went to the Bozeman Beer Festival last night. I was a DD, but a hilarious time was had by everyone. Maybe 50 different brewers were representing ... including a bunch of CA favorites. Wish I had pictures to show you, but I didn't want to be the weirdo taking pictures of random crowds of drunks. Also some band called Skavacado performed.
PS, some RIDICULOUS outfits on the hill today. Today is the last Saturday of the season and everyone's breaking out their full orange camo, shirtlessness + backpackness, Clippers jerseys, best 80s outfits, and tons of fluorescence. In addition to the usual complement of pack rats who shell out $$$ for their designer ridiculousness.

Also, Pond Skim today! The Big Sky park crew put together this awesome double-pond skim:

There's about at least a 3 foot drop between the two ponds. The finished skim also had "BIG SKY" letters cut out and stood up along the edge of the skim.

Okay, back to slush and giving bad news to drunkies who twist their knees skiing ("It's your ACL.") and roll into clinic still clutching their Pabst. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow of the best outfits. But it's hard to slow down and take pics when I just wanna ride....

Big Sky Animal-time

More Big Sky

Kind of a misty day today. Here is the tram appearing from nowhere:

slushy/icy yesterday, just did laps through the groomers and amused myself with little flips off lips.
Then the posse rolled down to Bozeman for shopping/pizza/groceries.

Today, I ran into my instructor and his riding bud and took a few laps with them through trees, mini-parks, groomers. They kept giving me a hard time about my riding (how many lessons have you taken?!?!) until I 'fessed up to having taught a few years... and being a Level II cert... and living in Tahoe/Mammy... etc. Man I should have lied! I feel so embarrassed ... I should be killing it out there with the years I've been riding. So out of shape. At least that's my excuse.

I hope to run into them again tomorrow -- rolling with a posse is a lot more fun than riding by myself everyday.

Clinic has been pretty busy every time I'm on shift so I haven't had a chance to do much of an update. More later.

Big Sky Day 17

Not much to report. Gave myself a corneal abrasion yesterday, somehow. Erin and Sakiko flurosceined (sp?) me and confirmed it. So I'm taking the day off and doing laundry and stuff and forcing myself to skip the snowboarding. I'll be back at it again tomorrow. More to report then.

Big Sky Day 16

Went out for my lesson today, woot! I had shenanighans in mind but my instructor turned out to be a really great guy who knows how to teach so I just went with it. He cleaned up my steeps turns and then we rode park for the rest of the day -- it was great. I learned so much I ended up never telling him about teaching at Alpine/June/Mammy. Too embarrassed because I stunk it up out there and it would have been worse to admit to it. AHHAHAhahha guess the joke's on me today. Well I had a great day.

Well here are some doctor pictures (courtesy of Erin):

Big Sky Day 15

Glorious sunny spring day today. First day it hasn't dumped in a while.
Went to the top, took some pics from the peak, and slush-turned my way down to the bottom. So tired ... took me like 30 minutes to make it to the next chair.
Today I also signed up for a snowboard lesson - hahahahahahahhaah. Apparently I get an employee discount so it's only $30 bucks for 2.5 hr lesson. Planning on taking it tomorrow afternoon -- I'll be sure to report how it goes. Muahahahahhaa!

Pictures!

Ridiculous.

View from the top!

Big Sky Day 14

Pipe. That is all. Tired. Arm hurts.

Big Sky Day 13

The crew walking downtown Bozeman:

Bozeman was fantastic. After a boring day at clinic/hill, most of us headed north one hour to Bozeman for shopping at a gear outlet and dinner at Mackenzie River Pizza. It was some of the best pizza I've ever had -- the soft sourdough crust was amazing and the toppings remind me of CPK. But better, I think. Anyway after shopping, pizza, and beer, we split up and the medical students picked up a rental car and we headed back to the cabin. I'm exhausted but looking forward to waking up whenever I want tomorrow because it will only take half an hour to get up the hill in the morning (instead of walking 15 minutes to the shuttle, which then takes about an hour).

Big Sky Day 12

Wet and wintry-mixish today. Snow kept pouring down all day.
Also, I nearly lost a contact lens on the chairlift today. Reminds me of Southshore Soldiers, when I was stupid enough to try and chase that contact lens down on the lift. This time I managed to knock the lens out of my eye and into the bottom of my goggles. Kept my goggles glued to my face and rode down to the nearest bathroom half-blind. I fished the lens out of the bottom of the goggles, disinfected it, and shoved it back onto my eye. Success.
Dinner was at Choppers again -- sweet potato fries!
Now I'm once again sitting at the cabin with nothing to do.

Big Sky Day 11

There's a wall in the clinic where Dr D puts up all the passes of past students/residents:

another Match Day photo

I found a picture my dad took of Dan and me talking after we opened our envelopes. I think this is the first private moment we had to talk about the disappointment of leaving Chicago.

Big Sky Day 10

SO COLD!
My face is turning purple as Britta's knee and then falling off.
Here are some pictures of Corral's decor from last night (poor wolf on the ceiling):

Lotta antler-chandeliers here. Here's Brian and Erin.
